In addition to the website Will Video for Food being a fun and interesting site that focuses on the different ways of trying to monetize video content on the web, there was an interesting post about the blog owner Kevin Nalty consolidating his content to BlipTV and having a little difficulty. The result being that within 30 seconds he got help from one of BlipTV’s co-founders, Mike Hudack.
In these days of people posting about the horrible customer service stories of AOL and Comcast, I think tales of great customer service (especially when they are services in our very own vlogging community) should be celebrated.
This actually reminds me, I just started using BlipTV becuase I wanted to try out their cross-posting service to my blogspot account on my travelvlog and BlipTV seems to use HTML to create the title of the post. This results in my RSS feed not updating properly because (i think) the title of the post needs to be placed in the ‘title’ section of blogspot software, so I have to change it manually which is not a huge deal but it sorta makes the cross-posting process only 90% work as it it requires me to delete the html that BlipTV creates and cut and paste the title into the proper place in the blogger software.
So, early next week I will contact BlipTV about this and test what their support is like also.

For those who are just looking to get the video link to their blog/vlog, Blip.tv’s crossposting feature is great. For people like me, who add a lot of formating, images, links, and all sorts of other good stuff, I have to go in and edit it anyway. I just keep a post template for my vlog posts and fill in the image, video, and body text. Cheers.

Hi Graham,
Thanks for the post!
We create the post title in HTML because Blogger’s API (Application Programming Interface) doesn’t support titles. Crazy, right? It’s because Blogger didn’t have titles when they launched, and they never got around to updating their API when they added titles to the site itself.
Truth is, though, we can’t lay this only on Blogger’s feet. Blogger has released some basic support for the Atom API, which should allow us to cross-post to Blogger with titles. We haven’t upgraded our cross-posting system to Atom yet, though, because it’s a much more complicated system to interact with.
So, for the time being, I’m afraid that we’re kind of stuck with the status quo. We’re working on adding Atom support to cross-posting, though, and it’s something we anticipate happening soon… I just can’t give you a date yet. My apologies for that.
Yours,
Mike

Graham- go anonymous when you contact Blip. I think I’ll crank call them next Friday night, and ask for Korean barbecue delivery.

I bet they bring you the tastiest bbq you’ve ever had within 30 minutes!

I had a sneaking suspicion I wouldn’t need to send anything to BlipTV, and sure enough seeing the comments, I didn’t. Now that is pro-active

Yes, the Blogger cross-post & title issue is a real pain for me (it messes up the sidebars). I have to hand edit all my blogger posts after each cross-post. This (and a fully customizable cross-post template) are the things that would really help me out. Mike has mentioned many times that they hope to address this one day. Blip is great.
